For a family film to hold audience attention for long spans of time with only a static-spotte...(read more) d commercial, a dystopian wasteland and a battery powered robot is remarkable. Pixar's animators ooze charisma in their empathetic treatments of not only a glorified tin can, but also a bug, a heap of defunct bots and a squishy, immobile cruise director. Clever coordination of familiar sounds and sights cultivating romance between Johnny 5's short-circuiting cousin and a smooth white descendant of our iProducts are cunning and completely convincing.
As both a sci-fi fan, an animation aficionado and a reluctant romantic, i was overwhelmed by the wonder and grace of WALL-E in a way i have not been since my earliest screenings of E.T.! A must-see!

The entire experience is one that children of my generation could have only dreamed of. With the 'Speed Racer' cartoon being well dated, having originally aired in the 1960's (as 'Mach GoGoGo' in Japan) and many generations of children have only had minimal exposure to the toon that reappeared in 1997. Having a marked disconnect with the youth of individuals like myself who came of age amidst the already dried up Ninja Turtles/Power Rangers period, I rarely find myself inclined to opening my deep fan devotion to pieces i have no personal nostalgia related to. The Wachowski brothers have managed to overcome my antipathy for automotive jargon and give me a massive adrenaline rush everytime i hear the now familiar yawping of the Mach 5. A must-see.
